Student-Led Comments / Growth and Development Reflection
Paragraph 1: Growth
4. Describe how you contributed to the learning environment in the classroom. Site examples of how you contributed to whole-class discussions and small groups discussions. Describe how this has affected your ability to learn and grow as a mathematician.
Growing as a Mathematician in this class, has given me the courage to be able to share with my group members about the procedure that I had faced while completing the assignments that were provided in class. While working as a group, I had shared the way that I had happened to approach the problem which lead to my group members having a different perspective on how to possibly approach the problem. A strategy that I had used while completing all my assignments would be both sketching out a visual of the provided information that is included in the question or even writing down the important information that helped me to retrieve a successful answer.
5. Describe how your “intelligence” has grown through your efforts in the class this year.
Throughout my years in middle school and high school, I have always struggled in Math but this year I have put forth lots of effort which has lead me to understanding math a lot more. I’ve envisioned my intelligence continuously growing this semester in Math since I have been doing everything and anything to follow through with the lessons that are taught daily in Math in which has helped me to learn new concepts that I have never gathered an understanding of so quickly.
Paragraph 2: Areas of Development
Paragraph 3: Hopes for Next Semester
Paragraph 1: Growth
- What are you most proud of this semester and why? Be specific and use evidence if possible.
- Reflect on the Standards of Mathematical Practice and “Growth and Development Goals” that you set at the beginning of the year. Select the goal in which you have shown the most growth. Describe exactly how you have grown. Use evidence to support your claims.
- What were the most significant concepts that you learned this semester? How could these concepts or ideas be useful to you in real life? Explain how/when you can use them.

Paragraph 2: Areas of Development
- Tell me about something that has challenged you or that you didn’t understand. What did you do to work through it and understand it? How did you show grit and how did you persevere through it? What could you have done better during this time?
- In which mathematical practice or growth and development goal did you find the least growth this year? What kept you from growing in this area? What could you have done differently?
Paragraph 3: Hopes for Next Semester
- What are your hopes and goals for next semester?
