Mathematical Transformations
Benchmark # 1:
Potential List of Transformations:
Baking- The amount of chocolate chips you put into each cookie.
Walking- The amount of Time it takes for each step.
Typing- The amount of words typed at a certain amount of time.
Dishes- The amount of time and effort you need to put into the dishes to transform from dirty to clean.
*Soccer- The amount of tries it takes in-order to make a goal.
Four girls are practicing their goals for their Soccer game. The four girls each get 4 tries
depending on how many goals each girl wants or needs. The girls try to get as many goals as
possible. Each girl takes their 12 goals, in the end the first girl counts up the amount of goals made.
Benchmark # 2:
A linear and Non-linear Transformation:
Non-linear:
(In)Tries (Out)Shots Made
5 3
9 5
12 8
14 9
7 4
2 0
The growth may seam linear but what happens is two more girls decided to join in with the original fours girls in practicing their shots.
Linear:
(In)Tries (Out)Shots made
2 1
4 2
6 3
8 4
10 5
According to the first girl the increase of shots is determined by the observation of the girls by watching each girl before them. By watching the girl in front of them they therefore can understand a pattern or routine of each girl before they shoot each goal. Then from there they can become more aware of how to make more Goals.

Benchmark # 3: Creative Piece:
Reflection: I had really enjoyed being able to choose actual concepts or interests that we are able to
experience in life. The Linear/Non-linear graph made everything in-depth because, for example mine is
Soccer so I had done the amount of tries it takes in order to make goals. For my linear graph the increase
of tries went up by two while the goals were going up by ones. For the Non-linear graph it had been a(n)
increase or a start of a linear than two others decided to join in which eventually made the linear line turn
into Non-linear. Over this past Semester this has been one of the projects in Math class that has really fascinated
me. I would love to do some type of project similar to this next semester.
