Design Thinking Methodologies Step-by-Step:
Empathize: Empathy is one of the main key components in design. To Empathize is to feel the problems and issues of others. A question that you should ask yourself is, Why would you create something if you didn’t have a goal leading up to the end for something or someone?
Define: Define can come from multiple forms throughout one individuals project. An individual must have the ability to be able to give a description of what they are creating. You must define the specific requirements of something.
Test: In design everybody needs a little of experimenting. During a project you should be able to know if something will work or not. Here’s an example one person can’t release a new hair product until they test the product to make sure that it works properly. A question to ask yourself is, What’s the point of releasing a hair product when it doesn’t work properly?
Ideate: Descisions of ways to change the world that came about without having the ability to have a successful brainstorming process. In life a good idea happens to always open up and in which leads to a more complex idea.
Revise: A lot of times people don’t like there work being critiqued by others because they feel that nothing needs change. Many people tend to tell themselves it is perfect the way it is well in reality no one or nothing is perfect. In my perspective critique helps me to see anothers point of view in ways to improve from. No one can ever get enough revision we should always hinder revision it is an improvement that can continue for as long as we would like.
Prototype: Prototypes are the approach of many other steps of design. Many times of course our first main idea happens to not always be our final. Many Ideate and create there own objects but to build from and make it better you use revision and many other tips. Prototypes always bring a new way of approaching new steps.
When first approaching this project my group and I had came across multiple ideas of ways to create a dream backpack. My group and I had fun sharing out a variety of different ideas on how to make a dream backpack which in the end helped to create our final backpack design. During our thought process and process of designing the final backpack design my group and I prototyped a lot and empathy was applied when designing the backpack of our dreams.
We had created a poster that listed the problems of our backpacks now and we had shared our ideas on what we don’t like about our bags now and how to upgrade that on our bags to make it better then it is now. While the ideas were very well thoughout and creative we had some ideation.
What would I do differently? If I was to do something different overall from this project i would have to say that my group and I could’ve took this project as a whole more seriously then we did during the process of designing our backpacks. At times during the process of this project I would regret not putting in my best work ability when working on the drawings for our final backpack design. In the end my group and I removed the ideas that were unneccessary then the rest of the ideas we had brought together in the final backpack design.
